LABOR OF LOVE
Book by Tony Estrada, Nerris Navarez-Nassiri, and Patti Vasquez
Music and Lyrics by Nerris Nevarez-Nassiri

A new musical at the intersection of immigration, politics, love, and American identity. It follows Jorge, an optimistic undocumented Mexican worker who becomes the unlikely face of a far-right senator’s campaign. Only to fall for the senator’s daughter, forcing both to confront what it truly means to belong in the United States.
ROLE:
Mamá
Latina, 30s-70s*, Mezzo-Belt. Mamá is the heart and soul of the show. Rooted in her traditional Mexican ways in the United States, tough, no-nonsense, enormously large heart, and an unfiltered love for her overly optimistic son, who just crossed the border.
*They’re going pretty wide on age because they’re more concerned with vocal & acting chops than looks.
