Teatro Vista Productions Untitled World Premiere

UNTITLED WORLD PREMIERE

Written by Paloma Nozicka

Directed by Georgette Verdin

Xochi is dealing with a lot: a difficult pregnancy, a new relationship, a family that can't stand her, and the loss of her twin brother Sebastian, who was declared missing last year. As she tries to navigate her life (and keep her sanity), the impossible happens: Sebastian reappears. Her family is overjoyed, but Xochi is suspicious: where has he been? And why does this version of Sebastian seem so different than the one she knew? This Untitled World Premiere is an eerie examination of family, love, memory, loyalty, and which version of the truth is the one worth believing.

ROLES

  • Xochi: 36, Mexican, Female (Casting Understudy Only). A "black cat" energy. An anti-hero. More vulnerable than she lets on. Sebastian’s twin (older by 5 minutes). Funny. Honest.

  • Sebastian: 35, Mexican, Male. Xochi’s twin. Lovely. Calm. Funny. Sometimes unreadable. A sadness beneath the surface. Trying.

  • Sam: 30s-40s, White, Male. A "golden retriever" energy, but not dumb. Just a genuinely nice guy. An "I got this" energy. An "I can take care of you" strength. Juan's best friend from high school. Probably the only white kid at their high school, so he can hang, you know? Trying.

  • Angela: 60s, Mexican, Female (Casting Understudy Only). Juan and the twins’ mom. Sharp. Elegant. Matter-of-fact. Genuinely terrifying when she wants to be. Emily from Gilmore Girls vibes. Grieving. Desperate for hope.

  • Cynthia: 20s-30s, Female (Casting Understudy Only). Cynthia represents the "idealized" version of Xochi (so noticeably physically similar but whatever "idealized" means to you - prettier, younger, etc). On the surface she doesn't seem like the brightest bulb, but she's deceptively wise. And maybe a psychic? Warm. Grieving. Desperate for hope.

  • Juan: 30s-40s, Mexican, Male. The twins’ older brother. Cop energy, although not actually a cop. Loud. Mean. Grieving.
